I've been tempted! It was close there for a while with that crank pulley.
I had to use the sort of torque usually reserved for beetle axle nuts.
I'm going to re-visit that water pump one day when I've collected enough bits to run a serpentine belt. I already have a new Mk 3 pump, tensioner and alternator, all I need is the pulleys and the time to hunt down what the right sized belt is going to be. I think Valver has done something similar.
There's been a bearing noise, I thought it might have been the pump but it checked out OK so I' re-used the original pump after cleaning out the housing and replacing the gasket.
The noise turned out to be the alternator bearings so I'll have to drop that off at the auto sparky for some TLC.
