Actually I just like painting parts when I put them back in. I'm a pretty left brained person and the colour doesn't matter much to me.
The suspension on the red golf ended up two shades of blue, yellow and red.
Jodie put her foot down and said it's got to be all red or all black.
I just paint stuff to make it easier to clean and keep it from rusting.
(Black would be pretty boring though, I'm not completely left brained!)

The odd injector is from an early Mk1 GTI. All the others are from the later Mk2 kjet 1.8s. I`d use the later kind in that motor.
You have had a busy weekend, good work.

yea good work pete.
have you even gotten around to changing the brake pads yet?
See page 1 of this thread.
New TRW pads all round.
I haven't fitted the rear discs yet 'cos I backed the car into the garage and I can't get it out till I've got the front back together. I'm also waiting on rear suspension bushes so I can drop the beam right out while all the brake lines and cables are disconnected. Might just have to paint it red!
The TRW pads were recommended to me by my brake shop as being comparable to the EBC Greenstuff pads which are not available for my front callipers. They're soft which means they should bite well but can be dusty, which doesn't bother me. They're also good for 650 degrees and a good compromise for road and track I was told.
I'm with holding judgement 'till I've driven on them.
The pads I was using were new ols stock when I got them and contained ASBESTOS. Great!

gah. memory like A goldfish I reckon I've got. I'll re read everything else before I ask anymore questions in future!![]()
The new rocker cover gasket is rubber and is one piece, a much better design than the cork with rubber bits original style, the kit came with new shoulder less studs.
The new sump gasket is also rubber, it should seal up a lot better that the kryptonite one.
New Cam belt and tensioner fitted up.
New spark pugs too, Bosch platinum thingies with 4 electrodes.
The engine timing was all over the shop, The fly wheel's not on right so the mark doesn't correspond to TDC on No1. Can't be stuffed dropping the motor to fix that.
The marks on the pulleys weren't aligned right either everything was 90 degrees off and the leads were rotated to make it run.
There's no particular reason for it that I could see so I've set it all back to the factory marks the way it should be. I'll have to check the timing when it's all back together.

Looking good pete! Good to see you're not taking short cuts.![]()
