By not watching TV.
I've been trying to track down my power loss issue.
I haven't been able to find an obvious cause yet.
I pulled the carbs apart, the float levels were only off by a couple of mm.
As a precaution I've changed the fuel filter and pump as well.
The ignition leads check out. I might replace the coil just in case.
I was struck by the thought that it might have been a tappet closing up so I checked all the valve adjustments today.
There were only 2 that were marginal and they were only 0.02 under minimum. I managed to find fractional shims to bring them back in line. I doubt they were the cause.
Amazing how clean a race motor stays inside.

:( Well that's everything I could think of at Sandown that day plus the tappets  :(
I hope it all comes good when we're back there in July.
Did you see the extra pics of White and the Pod by the HSV Owners' Club photographer?
What a bugger..maybe its time to drill out some injector ports and run electronic fuel management Pete?
I've got a whole other car for that!:)
OK, I don't think there's anything else to fix now.
I replaced the hall sensor in the dizzy which I think was the culprit of my recent racing woes.
Upon trying to restart and tune the car afterwards I discovered the the filter just prior to the carbs was blocked.
It's a glass unit and didn't look blocked at all, but blowing though it proved it was almost completely blocked.
With the filter in place a 10 second bust on the fuel pump only put a couple of teaspoons of fuel into a handy coffee cup.
Without the filter 10 seconds had the cup full to the brim.
I've got a new tank filter on the way I'll replace that, the one prior to the pump and the one in the engine bay next weekend.
Seeing as I had all the bits to diagnose the ignition, I also replaced the coil, cap, leads, rotor and ignition module.
Having your best parts in a box on the side of the track doesn't make you go faster.
It'll be a while before the next outing, I need the time and money to finish the other car.
I think White's getting jealous of all the attention that the Kamei is getting
not sure if you have seen this Pete, but mikes car got ALOT of attension over the weekend at the GTI International.

Yeah Mike and I follow each others progress pretty closely and exchange emails regularly.
Makes me smile to think I supplied the indicators that are on Mike's car in that Photo.
Not sure what reaction my car will get here there's been nothing quite like it built here for a very long time.
