nice work pete, i bet she sounds sweet on full song!!!
Lathe plus smaller chokes = bigger chokes... Pete ... Wheel align, well that's another story all together ........ I run a small amount of toe-in say 1 mm or a little less. I've tried the VW setting which I think is a bit of toe-out but I find that it understeers a bit more which is note what you want on the gravel.

Hi
Yeh I had sent Pete an email saying if he was sure he didn't want the smaller ones anymore. I was thinking if it's still got good bottom end then there may be a bit more to be had at the top end. If you had some to swap when it's on the dyno it could be good. ...... cheers ....... Geoff
I'm thinking about it guys.
The original ones were 32mm and the new ones are 34mm. I can go as far as 37mm in the 40mm carbs.
The chokes themselves are pretty simple and could be turned up from scratch if I were more capable with my lathe.
They're about $25 ea from Eurocarb http://www.dellorto.co.uk/merchandis...artsectionID=1

Maybe I'll turn the 32s out to 36 and road test them. They're easy to swap out.
On the topic of suspension settings I'm running zero toe and 1° Camber.

I think if you go too big it might mess up your fuel atomisation, but that's only a maybe. After all that's the reason the chokes are in there.. :)
Hi all
I guess it's all about trying slightly different settings to see if you can get small improvments. You could machine the 32's to 35 and try them doesn't have to be 36. A good test is on the road. If you reckon it's ok then I think it's worth taking it to the dyno like that. ..... Cheers ...... Geoff
It's pretty darn good with the 34s in there :)
Max size for OE chokes in this carb is 36mm. After market 37s are available. The 2.0 Alfas that these were designed for ran 32s.
I need to re-read my Dellorto book.
