having been working on and off this car since pulling it off the road in 1996. The car is a 1979 2 door which was actually my first car.
I have replaced the old 1.6 carby engine with a Mk2 GTI injected power plant from GTI Imports. We had the block bored out to 1.9L and used audi piston. Head had the usual port and polish & big cam. ECU for fuel injection has been replaced with Haltec. Picked up a ANSA exhaust, including headers.
Had various engine bay components and suspension parts powered coated, fuel tank replaced for EFI and brakes upgraded to Mk2 GTI specs.
Still haven't turned the motor over yet. Have some minor electronics to complete.
