With 39 years experience racing Golfs & many state dirt titles in my trophy cabinet (ok - a shelf in the garage), I share many of my secrets for building a most affordable club racer for between the trees.

Nice to see the "Old School" techniques to modifying a car. No high tech here.

Why are you stripping the (road legal) grey car to put all the pieces into the blue one which also needs bodywork done?

I thought my son wouldn't want a blue & grey car, but we've decided to go with the undamaged car as you're suggesting.
What's the chance of getting some info off you re the MK1 16v transplant? KR, 9a or ABF in the MK1? I'm particularly interested in the ignition setup you ran.
Cheers
Paul

Paul we have yet to do the Mk1 swap, but we expect to just use everything out of the Mk4 1.6, which would include the OME ignition sertup.
