    Tdi conversion

Hi all, I am looking for a wrecked tdi for a rwd 2wd swap into a project car, just wondering as a starting point which model/engine model I should be looking for? I will run a 5 speed Toyota box with acme adapter, just wondering if there was a easier option for a wrecked vw to start with? I am located Sunshine Coast Queensland aus. From what I can tell the ahu motor was never sold here, so I guess I'm looking at alh-cr, any help, will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers 63eh

What vehicle are you putting it into and what power do you want?

VE pump TDI's are rare in australia, but they did sell them in the mk3 golf (1z) and in the T4 transporters aswell. Basicaly the same engine as the HU but less power output (only in the boost pressure and mapping).

The real question is what is your budget?

If you have the money, you can buy a mk5 golf/jetta/caddy wreck and use the whole wiring loom.

If you dont want to spend that much, you are going to need to take your time finding an engine and probably building it up yourself in terms of engine management, perhaps sourcing a mechanical TDI pump or building one so you dont need and ECU.

take a look over on Welcome to VolksWagen Diesel - plenty of TDI conversions over there particularly into suzuki sierra's etc.

There is also a member on here with a thread in the diesels section doing a late model tdi conversion into a sierra.
