been pretty quiet last week, Still tracking down repair sections from UK and the states to effect a decent job.

    Rotisserie is all but complete..

makes working on any section of the car a breeze for an old geyser like me with a crook back..

Still debating as to caustic / acid dip or just blast the shell ...
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

just blast the shell and antirust like crazy!
make sure its bead blasting now sand blasting though as i've heard that sandblasting can warp the metal?

Dont laugh, it was considered before one of my kids decided to come live with dad...

I have had a couple of long nights there tho..mind you the fridge was empty by morning...

Have sourced repair sections from the UK and the states.. so the tinwork will be on hold for a while..

Be starting the drivetrain bits soon...

Well done some research on Caustic dipping and Abrasive blasting...

The plan at present is to chop the rust areas and repair as required, abrasive blast the rusty sections where necessary, then Caustic dip to remove all the seam sealer and underbody protection that I cant remove by mechanical means...

Used 30 Kg's of dry ice to chill all the floor interior sound deadening, then light hammer blows to fracture the frozen bitumen material...

Came up pretty well considering... You can see where one sheet had de- bonded and allowed water to sit between the sheet and metal floor...

Threw some of the Ice into the rain tray to remove the underbody seal, had been a problem in one of the other rocco's ( rain leaking in on the fuse box ...) so will need a light blast around the wiper motor bracket...

Sourcing the repair sections is taking way to long, have had a few dud leads, however have located another car at a breakers in UK, awaiting confirmation that its available...

Waiting for a reply from 2 UK contacts and 1 stateside contact about the selected parts I need, they have to be cut from a donor car. The UK parts will come via my mates shipping service, prob bring back the pieces from the states
in November when I come back from Mk1 + 2 Bonelli GTG in Socal.
