My beloved golf broke down about 2.5 years ago and being skint, pushed it in the shed and left it there.
I recently lost my licence for an accumulation of points and my ban is due to be lifted in two weeks time and decided to fix the golf in preparation of getting my licence back and add a little excitement into my life.
It looked a mess, so i slowly started to fix it up, haven't been on the tools for years and was a little daunted.
So i got it in a bay and started work, several weekends actually.
Refurbished the starter motor and all the earth straps, which fixed the starting fault.
New outer cv boots, torn the old ones, probably from having it too low.
New brake pads, got these from unique autos in slacks creek, i mention these guys because the pads came with the notoriously rare anti rattle clips.
Refurbished callipers and drums, new cylinders, scrubbed and painted red, they were blue, bad move previously.
Engine-Oil, filters, plugs, leads, cap, few paint jobs, engine and trans wash, new rocker cover gasket.
Completely stripped , cleaned and refurbed interior. New dash parts, glove box, switch stuff etc etc.
New door locking mechanisms.
New battery,wiper blades, general exterior clean.
I reckon its ready for the roadworthy and getting excited of driving my beloved golf again.
Still have a few things id like to do;
Smoked clear outer lights.
Nice set of wheels that suit.
Black tonnau cover
I actually enjoyed working on it and am ashamed i left it so long, still you may see me soon on brisbane meets.
Hoping to get a roadworthy test this week.
