Some of the ABFs were coupled to 02A boxes which are hydraulic, with normal clutch. Some had 020 linkage trans with clutch cable, mainly in the 8v but some 16V did. then the later ones that had 020 had a hydraulic slave operating the release lever instead of the cable, this being on the 020. As for the coolant back then that motor had G11, you can still get it in independent Vw suppliers but its gone from Vw shelves. G12 , G12+ and g12++.

After much research I decided it was possible to convert the Cupra which has the 02A gearbox over to hydraulic operation. As far as I am aware it is the first time in Australia. I am a member on Seat Cupra.net. I asked on that forum but no one could tell me if they knew of anybody who had converted from the stupid long cable to hydraulic operation.

It was actually pretty straight forward and now the clutch is light as.
