    Projekt Audi

    As some of you may know my beloved R32 met a tragic end a couple of months ago and while I still do miss the car, I now have a new toy to keep me occupied for a little while!! This car most of you will know is Alex G's old Audi A3...

    His 50+ page thread can be seen here;

    the i promise to keep it standard A3

    The car itself is a 1999 Audi A3 3dr hatch, sporting a 20v 1.8t which has just tipped over 91,000km! Quite low km's considering its vintage!!

    The modifications I've listed below are what I can think of just off the top of my head, I'm sure I've missed quite a few additional changes. The A3 did sport a custom set of AME Fire wheels which were unfortunately stolen not long after getting the car all the way back from Sydney.

    WHEEL + SUSPENSION
    - Raceland coilovers
    - DLI Engine mounts (passenger & drivers side)
    - BFI dogbone bushings

    Over the past month I've managed to do the following;

    CURRENT MODIFICATIONS & MAINTENANCE

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ENGINE + PERFORMANCE
    - N75j Boost Solenoid

    EXTERIOR
    - ZIZA H7 headlight bulbs

    INTERIOR
    - New shiftboot & knob
    - Podi Mechanical boost gauge

    WHEEL + SUSPENSION
    - Whiteline FSB & adjustable endlinks

    The car is currently running on a CustomCode base tune, logging for the final tune should commence next week and should hopefully be finished before Christmas!! From initial driving, we thought that the car was boost spiking but after setting up the logging equipment and doing some tests on both the wastegate actuator & N75 boost solenoid, we realised that the Stack boost gauge is out of calibration. I decided to order a Podi mechanical boost gauge which will match perfectly to the existing cluster lighting.

    So where to from here;

    TO DO
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Fit oil cooler
    - Fit custom fab'd coolant reservoir

    BRAKING
    - Replace rear discs with DBA slotted

    WHEEL + SUSPENSION
    - Whiteline RSB
    - Swap out Raceland coils for KW V1s
    - Refurb Audi TT wheels & add spacers (short term)
    - New wheels (long term)

    Finally a few pics which I've shamefully pinched out of Alex's thread since I haven't had a chance to get out and take some decent pictures of the car other than the couple of phone pics at the bottom.

    Getting a well deserved claybar & polish

    Gav continuing his magic

    Cheers!

    I don't know why you would do this though:

    - Fit custom fab'd coolant reservoir????

    I would leave it the way it is, looks a lot neater and the resevoir does f-all!

    I'm sure I will mate!! Just need to get a couple of bits sorted, doesn't help when you're a fussy prick! HAHA.. Not to sure if I'll be at the happy laps, definitely won't be running the car though...

    Piece of mind?? Not worthwhile to add extra to the system along with having a bit more room for air bubbles?? The reservoir would be mounted onto the radiator support and sprayed black. The really ****y looking part would be the housing I guess.. Food for thought I guess.
