Josh, if the car was presented for a roadworthy and it was practically on the bump stops they would be looking at everything possible. That is a fact of the trade mate.
With crook lights, a worn low tyre which is such an easy thing to look at before you go in there to see them they are going to think you didnt bother checking it out properly before you presented it. I am not having a go at you but if I had a car dropped off to me, I would certainly be looking very closely for anything I could find, mainly to cover my own backside with the authorities.
Air pumps were fitted after 6/76 to the golfs through to 1979.
The authorities failed a car after a rego inspection last week down here for incorrect CO readings...
    Good luck mate, Andrew

dw Andrew I was just seeing what was really wrong with the car as they saw it, knew it wouldnt pass first time.

i dont have any worn tyres on there! they all have plenty of tread.

Car is no where near the bump stops!!!! It just looks that low because of the 13" wheels on there.

yes i know that everything after 76 were fitted with air pumps, but im not about to rip the head off and put an emissions head on there for RWC i'll just take it to a different place that doesnt know Golfs! im not exactly going to rip my engine out am i?

Not having a dig at ya Josh, don't get upset mate. Just saying how people in the trade see things. I know some are way over the top and you have to make certain allowances for old vehicles such as kombi demisters! Air pumps in a 32yo car still working are ridiculous.
You did mention the other week how far off the ground the sump was mate and I am not sure anyone here would pass a vehicle so low.
Please dont read my comments wrong.
down here if you fail, after 30 days the failure notice has to be sent into transport. If someone goes elsewhere and passes, the questions are asked and the vehicles are called in to be checked over by the transport inspectors.
Thank goodness we dont have annual checks!!!
Good luck with it Josh and please dont take offence, I am just stating how it is down here.
    Cheers, Andrew

Yea of all things, the sump being about 3 fingers off the ground wasn't an issue. The guy really, hhm yea, it is very confusing.
