Apparently you can modify a 1300 Golf distributor to fit a 16V.
another question for my ever on going 16v conversion
you used to be able to get programable ignition modules from jay car (they no longer sell) that change the distributors curb i require this as i dont have the original 16v module i do have the tci switch/module.
i was looking for a relatively cheap solution. help please

I think thats an urban myth Phil. I dont know anyone who has sucessfully got it to work. I know lots of people who could not get it to work properly.Originally Posted by syncro

I used to modify 1300 dizzies by maching the base and fitting Beetle drives to them, but I will have a 16v ignition computer and loom for sale very shortly. If you can wait a bit let me know.

GTI Imports was modifying them and selling them.
Just did something to the drive end. Don't know what????
I know he sold a fair few of them.
You can make em fit in there, but the curve and other things are wrong. I have sold at last 3 dissys to people who bought one of the bodgyed polo ones.Originally Posted by syncro

I would be looking to fit a 16V dissy and ECU to make things simple. After that a piggy back computer to get the timing just right would be worth installing.
I had one from Racelogic called VSAM which was easy to use and program.

The curve is an easy fix. Can be set at anything that you want for around $50. I've had special curves done before.Originally Posted by Golf Loon
I realize this is an old post but I tried the Jaycar kit you have mentioned.
For about $300 you can buy and build it. It consists of the new 2007 programmable module, LCD controller and Coil driver.
I have installed it into a Merc M126 V8, as the factory module died and would have cost upwards of 2-$3000 to replace new!
I aslo pre tested in a Mk3 Suzuki swift.
You can also map the ignition against Manifold pressure.
Ideally you would need a dyno or second person to assist with the mapping.
