    Righto.....

On my maiden voyage I managed to break my new little car it ran out of electricity and caused all sorts of havoc. As luck would have it I was right near work so managed to get it to the under ground car park to deal with the next day.

Dragged the battery home, charged it up and drove back to the mechanic. Checked the alternator and this was causing me all the drama "not charging".

Now I have this shiney little guy

Excitedly got all back together and went for a drive............

Same problem......Scratch head.........the car also felt like it wasn't getting enough fuel either above 3500rpm

    Then we found this......

Now with some dodgy wires replaced the battery was charging.

    Now for the fuel issue.

This little thing is a fuel return valve,

we by-passed it and took the car for a drive, car had plenty more go abut was still running out in higher rev range. Fuel Pump?????

will change these out next week and see what the out come is.

Need to start collecting bits like indicator lenses

    Quad headlight so cool!!!!

There's some people who say "it's an old car with lots of problems, why bother".

Then there's people like me who say "wow, great car, how much better do you feel when you find and fix things?"

awesome find! good luck with the body parts! Engine will be easy.

Does it have the diaphragm pump mounted on the block? Looks like thats what it should have with the fuel setup you have. You dont want too much fuel pressure to the carb. If its running out, it might be the pump. They are good for the stock carb and if you can find a good working 2nd hand one you'll be right. I think you can still buy them new too.

Have a look on vagcat for the part number.
