Although this is the first talk i've heard about rego problems (gulp!). It is a UK car brought over in '86 by original owners. Do you know of anyone else who has done this in Aus? If I can i'll prolly also use the 6speed quattro 'box heheh.
Also, about the wheels, I found some BBS RS001's which I promptly bought before the guy realised he was virtually giving away some of the most wanted rims ever, and they are 15x7 ET25. My car is lowered and they rub a little. They actually caught on the inner front guard lip and sliced my front tyres quite well! So watch that!!
    Any advice would be ace.

Will do. Are those your Scala wheels there?
My car had those on it before i got the BBS's. still got em but may have to sell.

The wheels on that too low GTI in the pic look like RM's. Maybe 16"??

its so low which makes them look bigger.

Awesome!!! I think we need to set up a vw watercooled 1.8T swap thread where we can post resources/links etc, i talked to Seb(Bug_Racer) the other day about this swap and gave some usefull points.

Are you doing a complete dash swap at all? Then again yours is out of an S3, what would yo bring across? Instrument Cluster etc? I heard someone had done this before although i could have been thinking of something else, stacks of people have done it Eur/US etc so there is a stack of resources out there, lots on vwvortex on the Mk2 forums.

I was going attempt to get some RS001's, i thought 15x7 might be a bit skinny and was going to attempt to find something 8 or 8.5 and get my guards flared for the G60 arches.

    For Example (1690 Euros)

    8x15 et25 would that work?

Nah not doing dash swap. I'll keep the original look both interior and exterior, just lowered and BBS RS's.
Its a future classic and I dont wanna go messing around too much so i'm gonna keep it absolutely standard interior and exterior, but restore it all to new condition. Cant use S3 interior anyway as its all been sold before i got it.
I just love the concept of the classic GTI look, unmolested, and giving the subarishi brigade a real shock at the superkhana's and hillclimbs!!
What about you? You keepin standard interior?
15x8 should work. Just roll up the insides of your arches!!
I'll crank up that thread in a coupla weeks hey?
Also thinking about videoing the whole process and making a DVD!
    What you guys reckon?
