VR6 engine is plug and play too, but you need a different gearbox, subframes, driveshafts, brakes etc. An early loom is important as coded keys are a pain.

There is one mythical Mk2 VR6 in Oz, and I know of at least one other being built right now.

In NSW if you put any engine other than one that was supplied in that year model of car, then it needs to be engineered!!

I can hook you up with an engineer if you need

    Good Luck
just a question, why arent you allowed to use k-jet then?

(i dont know anything about the rules of the road, mk2 VR6 would be the daddy!)

Peedman, according to my blue slip guy, you need engineering even if its a different engine from what was sold in a car of that year. Eg an AGG engine into a 2E car would need engineering. Thats the letter of the law according to the RTA. However, if someone will write you a blueslip with the new engine number on it, the RTA will probably pass it.

Hope you are ready for this motor soon man.

anarchycamp, I have one kr engine left, its a good one, but the last one. dont leave it too long.

You cant put an older componant like kjet into a newer car. You can put it into a Mk1, but not a digi Mk2, unless its an import, then you can do anything.

Ah ok i see what u mean. Yeah i suppose it all depends on who you take it to and what their definition is.

PS: Looking to take that motor away from u in a few weeks time, if u really need the space sooner let me know and ill try and cough something up.

    15x8's + 40mm drop

    Vague/General Question for wheels/tyres/suspension people...

15x8's with a 40mm drop on my car...are we talking looking at some scrubbage? Bodywork will hopefully be getting some work done for the G60 arches at some stage so want to know if i need to budget for some arch rolling perhaps?

the front will clear but the rear will need rolling or flaring as did mine! sounds nice mind you, i think the drop on my rear is more than 40mm though . . .

Cool...my rear arches will be getting some work done for the G60's anyway....sounds good! cheers!

Im still not convinced that the rear G60 arches are that much wider than the stock...i know fronts are big difference.

    Couple more pics....

Rear Bumper repainted as per John's effort on his small bumpers, turned out pretty well, just has a rougher feel now due to the bumper paint.

Back Seats out..Carpet up....Floor Pan area under those deteriorating foam pads will be getting a coat of Rust Bullet, I assume fronts will need the same, havent got that far yet

Hi mr. anarchy. I have a 1985 MkII GTI 5-door in Atlas grey, AND... I am gonna do the 1.8T swap.... with Audi S3 motor (225bhp)!!
Although this is the first talk i've heard about rego problems (gulp!). It is a UK car brought over in '86 by original owners. Do you know of anyone else who has done this in Aus? If I can i'll prolly also use the 6speed quattro 'box heheh.
Also, about the wheels, I found some BBS RS001's which I promptly bought before the guy realised he was virtually giving away some of the most wanted rims ever, and they are 15x7 ET25. My car is lowered and they rub a little. They actually caught on the inner front guard lip and sliced my front tyres quite well! So watch that!!
    Any advice would be ace.
    Wade
