    Meh, i'm in no hurry.

Gotta buy a clutch now so i can get all my reciprocating and rotating assembly balanced. I'll be getting Robinson Toolmaking in Bathurst to do that i reckon. Heard good things. They did the bottom end of the Hemi, and it seems ok..

Balancing Golf pressure plates is tricky. Usually the cast section self centres in use. Setting it up dead centre for balancing can be an issue.

The guys that lightened my flywheel had a fun time trying to figure out how to do it. Not sure how they managed it in the end.

Will these have to have the exhaust valve relief fly cuts at all?

I don't think so. There's a fair bit of room between the crown and the exhaust valve, given that these engines aren't a true cantered valve engine.

I got the block and Torque Plate right to go today. That's not ALL i did, i had a job to do that i'd actually get PAID for, so that had to happen first.. Haha.

I made the spacers up, which had to be 67mm long. The head is 117mm deep to the clamping face, so with a 50mm torque plate, that leaves 67mm for the studs. You need to have it pretty close so that when you torque the plate down, the studs stretch the right amount. I mean, realistically ANYTHING is better than doing it without preload, but if you can do it right, you may as well i reckon.

The spacers are 20mm Bright Mild Steel and i've drilled an 11.5mm hole in them, giving them around about .5mm clearance on the stud.

Not long now and you'll be putting that thing together.

I've really got to clear out a few projects and start catching up

    Looking good.
