    i reckon go for those 13.4:1 pistons... then you can run a duel fuel methanol/diesel setup :-P

    Yeah.. Probably not. I do have plans for something like what you are talking about in the future, however..


    (What about a Sneaky Pete dry shot nitrous setup??)

    seriously, are you thinking higher than 10.5:1?

    Yes. Somewhere between 11 and 12.

    I'm thinking 11 though, because an extra 4 or 5 hp really isn't worth the hassles associated with more than 11:1 comp. I mean, from what i've been reading this engine should make a scratch over 200 at the flywheel.. Which is what my mate's Mk1 escort made and it could keep up with a worked evo.. Which is hella fast.

    yes, it is indeed. man if you make that much you'll be FLYING.

    btw - you should see the bracket someone has made for the alternator in the diesel i just bought - i reckon you'd love it for a future project its got this nice big flat bit of steel infront of the IP just waiting for something to be bolted there....

    Yeah well people have made more than 200hp in the states with a standard crank and standard bore size, standard valves.. Everything less aggressive apart from the cams and on DCOE's the same as mine. So i reckon it should - should be up around 200 peak hp.


    I think you should email me some pictures of this bracket.. You know how much i like that stuff..

    i think if you go too far over 12:1 you'll start running into issues with pre det and stuff. and unless you were going to run iot on c16 or avgas or e85, i don't really see the point in going past 11:1 either

    I am in need of a set of custom Wiseco forged 4000 series pistons with teflon coating for a VW 1.8l 16v (KR engine code) engine.

    I am after a compression ratio of 11:1 and a bore size of 82.5mm.

    Average combustion chamber CC's is 47.62cc.

    Block deck height from crank centre line is 221.69mm (8.728"), standard 86.4mm stroke 1.8l crank with standard length 144mm (5.669") conrods.



    Could you please quote me for a set of pistons including pins and rings, and postage via USPS priority air mail to:

    woot! you were more conservative with the comp ratio than i thought you would be, but i reckon it'll be great.... good balance.
