11.0:1. That's about the limit for pump fuel and carbies with no ECU controlled ignition system i think.

Yeah you can have my pistons. I just need to get the invoice so i can tell you how much! I keep forgetting. I'll PM you my phone number so you can text me and remind me, K?

    With those cam's & 11:1CR, you'll get it idling around 1000rpm easily.

Remember my 276 could idle no problem's at 900rpm.

    Just a bastard in traffic!

288's should still idle around 1000rpm.

It's when you get into the 300+, you need to run a high idle.

Yeah, that is true for single valve engines. Multi valve engines are a little different.

As you know, it's all about air speed. I'm going to reserve my judgement till i get it going because i'm not quite sure what it will be like.

Due to the fairly large inlet ports, large carburetor venturi's etc, i'm not sure i'll be able to let it idle that low without fouling plugs due to poor atomisation, charge burn and flame speed at those RPMs.

Having said that, you might be spot on, too, Tim.

    Good call.

Just don't want to have to screw that idle up that far that is running on the transfer slot's though. (Thinking of a Holley. Not sure on Weber's)

Transfer slots? (Never had anything to do with holleys!)

The idle should be fine if i have to wind it up a little. It doesn't really worry webers in my limited experience. I mean, you don't get off the idle jets till about 1/3 throttle..

    Cool.

The only weber's I've had anything to do with are Escort & XF Weber's & also the ones you cook on!

On a Holley, there's transfer slot's that help it progress from the idle circuit to the main circuit along with the accelerator pump's help as well. There's also the power valve which is like a vacuum operated fuel on/off switch.

More progress. (Well not really, just more stuff, haha.)

My lightweight lifter finally arrived after a crap fight with the US supplier we got the stuff from!

I got the oil cap I wanted off Aydan last weekend too, very happy.

Also scored a Louvre off Josh and Jarred at the same time! Woo!

And this shot.. Well, its a tease for Tim. hehe.
