Yeah. He's crazy. Haha.
Thats awesome! How much may i ask?
this is so frigging sick.
i just got onto this thread- reading with mucho interesto.
Hahaha yeah there's a loooooot of stuff to read dude. :)
had a spare afternoon off so settled in for a read, very informative reading. Great skills and machinework  should be a bit of a beast once its done and while not in any way meaning lower it what suspension are you going to be running with it?
also, dont know what mounts your running although I may have missed it but ashley manifolds are prone for cracking due to lack of a flexi on the system but I guess youll be running a combo of poly and diesel at least with that spec of engine. Im pretty sure my old ashley came off the collector as 2.25' but I only used a sleeve onto a jetex Rally system with it anyway whereas if your going custom it wont be a problem for them.
Im using a dubpower stainless manifold now down to the ashley not being a great fit on the head and its mild steelness. Just a thought if you ever have to replace the ashley
Cheers, mate! :)
I'm going eventually put KW V3 coils in. But at the moment it just has KYB gas dampers with stiff (no idea what brand they are) lower springs.
Planning on running diesel mounts. No polys- too stiff for the street, but will be considering it for competition use. I'm going to look at casting my own poly mounts.. I looked into that a little while ago and did all the drawings for them.
I won't be doing a stupid amount of K's with this car, so i'm not too concerned about the mani cracking. My 8v extractors never failed, just had a flexi joint pretty much straight after the collector. Thanks for the info though. Always good to hear some "been there, done that" stories. :)
I use mine(when its legal)as a daily on full poly's although i only really do 70-100miles a day, they can be liveable with depending what you regard as a mode of transport and how much you can put up with.My boss had to drive my car 10miles to his house one night and still cries like a baby about it.Personally I think its hilarious but its also why im not using them for my jetta.
I think the idea of the Ashley system is to use springs over bolts on that collector flange to allow movement in that joint.
At least that's how I'm going to run mine. Just need to find the right sized gasket ring thingy.
Will probably use some old inner valve springs and turn up some caps for them.
Daz, I know what you mean. I'll start with a diesel mount only and see how that goes. I'm getting spoiled with my Caddy at the moment so i might get a shock when i jump back in my Mk1 again. haha.
That would make a lot of sense, Pete. Sounds like a good idea to me. Inner valve springs or some soft die springs would definitely be the go i think.. :)
