Hehe, i have saab connections... ;)
Er, well my old man does anyways. But if they are Vac advance that's not really what i want. I need progressive mechanical.
Dad's going to get on to the saab bloke on monday about it.

your intention is to run carbs yeah ???
Unsure if you can run the std dizzy and use the knockbox with this, but i would be sure there is someone on the tex thats done this before...maybe worth a search...
Yeah mate, DCOE's.
Knock box?? What like a detonation sensor?
It will be running Bosch high energy ignition. A custom setup. Its half done already cause we were making one for the 8v, just need a suitable distributor.
You'll have to help me out here.. As far as the electrical side of the 16v's go, i've got no idea. Never had anything to do with them before.
No more guess work...

Just got it today.
The crank is now at the reconditioners being ground, flushed and balanced. Along with the H beam rods, which are going to be balanced to within .1gm.
The crank journals are being ground specifically to size to give clearance of 2 thou (.05mm) on the mains and 2.5 (.0625mm) on the big ends.
The main tunnels only varied by 2 tenths, so they will be ground to one size, but the rod big ends varied by almost 1 thou. Specifically they varied by .02mm across all 4, so they will be matched to their respective journals.
These clearances are basically top tolerance (highest clearance) on the VW clearances given in the Bentley manual, which are pretty standard clearances.
So.. To all the people telling me to get into gear.. There you go, the ball is still rolling. :nana:
rolling like a match of lawn bowls but...
:nana:
Righto mr "I'll just pay someone else to do it all for me".
