Head looks good man! Did you check how much wear is in your valve guides? Use a dial indicator on the valve head, their is a spec for how much play they can have at a certain opening height before need of replacement but i cant remember it off the top of my head. I only menmtion this as the guides have been shortened with the porting....

The tt cams were the crappy just above standard cams. I need atleast 276's, and they're very hard to find anywhere other than TT.

I did the hand weigh test with the lifters and there's a hell of a difference between them, however that is a good idea and i will weigh them at work in the lab when i get a chance. :)

The head is a low K head and the guides were checked by andy, and he said they were fine. Bonk was pretty stern about knocking the guides down, and he said the valves would be fine. After all, i'm not looking to punch 200 thousand kms out of it..

Another couple of weeks and it'll be prime. Plus i've gotta make a blower pulley adapter for a guy and some other stuff related to my business, so that'll have to happen first. :biggrin:

A small update..

Turns out (due to my ignorance) that the 16v dizzys have no mech. or vac. advance...

So.. This means that i have a few choices..

1. Go full programmable electronic (NOT going to happen!)
2. Get a mech advance dizzy off something else, pull out the mech. advance unit and make an adapter unit with the mech advance unit inside to go between the dizzy and the head.
3. Adapt an anticlockwise dizzy from another engine with mech. advance to my spec.

Seriously considering option number 2. Maybe option number three.

I went and talked to my auto elec mates Tony and Nick Agland that run an auto elec shop in town today about a Bosch High Energy ignition system using my dizzy and Tony pointed it out to me. Next week i'm going to go talk to him and discuss the options we have for this setup.

The high energy ignition system will utilise a Ford ignition module, because according to Tony and Nick, they have very good current and dwell control, and will probably utilise a Ford coil.

More info on this setup when i discuss it with Tony.. :driver:

from aeons ago, i think its either a SAAB or Peugeot mech adv dizzy that fits straight in... have a search on vortex in the 16 V engine forum, think thats where i read it...

EDIT: Mainly for my own reference, it's a Saab dizzy, so far i've found it says vac advance...

EDIT AGAIN: This is apparently the one.. Early 80's (82-85?) Saab 900 8v non-turbo.

Yeah, early 80's was about when i was looking for one as well...:biggrin:

Next trick is to find one....
