Turns out the alt problem might be easier than first thought.
seems to be a missing bolt in there and hence a loose alt belt.
fuel consumption was around 6.0L/100km. that's with 2 blokes, and a boot and back seat full of parts and luggage. and 4spd at 110kph. And also possibly a sticky thermostat.
It was about $120 bucks worth of juice for the weekend. and I got 1 comment when filling up " has this little thing got a diesel in it? who woulda thought"
I also have parts for you Pete. I'll catch you on the weekend if you're around.,

thought i'd quickly update this. she's been runnning like a trooper recently.
one of the lower alternator bolts fell out when coming back from sydders, which caused the alt not to charge the batt and the battery go flat and not power my lights and wipers; both of which are very handy at night. when it's raining.
Fitted up a 'cold air' intake and 'oil catch can' the other day aswell. Although i think i need to change the oil catch so it can't vent to atmosphere.
The 'cold air' intake just extends off the standard intake, just stop the air coming in straight off the engine. noticable improvement in smoothness whilst accelerating. better feel, even if there's no actually power increase.
Should also have a noticeable altitude drop soon toooo.
few pics from photoshoot last night. Cheers mitch for the camera work.
