Re: Mini Project: Save the Hooker... MK2 GTI 16v

Bit more progress in the last couple...

Coolant system filled and pressurised minor leaks all corrected with tightening hose clamps..

CAR DRIVES... big step running open headers for an exhaust at the moment thou... so freakomg loud... did dumb it down with one resonator thou...

going to sick with the factory 2 1/4 inch dont want it stupid loud...

Wheels will need to be machined slighly maybe drop the offset by 4 mm or run super stretch tyres... or limit the suspension travel......

M M and fizz kindly replacedy sunroof seal and reinstalled that shebang

Then they kindly re installed the headlining and other various peices of trim

And i was making rust holes dissappear

Very happy with how its all slowly coming together next year i will be getting the paint work done

Just for good measure a shot of the powdercoated intake mani and crash panel... win all around i think....

Oh and it seems to pull great with the mk3 o2a gearbox!! And the lightened eurospec abf flywheel..

Exhaust to be completed this week and hopefully it can go for its road worthiness test next week...

Other Wheels and Factory Exhaust rear box came back from Powdercoaters

Compomotive MO1670 - I had some 15mm Spacers to go with them I have turned them down to make them fit... and made them Slip Type Spacers instead of stud conversion...

    Compos vs the Technomagnesios

    Cermachromed Rear Box.

Also picked up a replacement LHS Door to replace the one with the botched Rust repair attempt on.

will also fit the replacement boot lid also.. These all need to be painted up in the new year to get the car looking prime again!

Fitted brand new door seals over the weekend too!

    Not quick enough..

Was hoping to be cruising in this over christmas but its just not going to happen now.. (well not how i envisaged it at the get go) car needs a serious lick of paint
    ...

Any who Today Completed the Exhaust System..

Welded it all up.. Its nice and Graspy (Grunty and raspy)

The Twin tips are a little bit small but never mind. when my magnaflow rear box arrives next year that can replace that!

System only has the Middle Resonator and the Rear box

4 - 2 -1 Headers 2.5 Inch Stepped down to 2.25 inch for the Middle section and then the rear box (OEM job) 2.00inch

    Sounds good any way.. meh.

Also installed Doorless Entry ... (whats that you may ask?)

Haha Need to ascertain which door I will end up using.. the one I welded up the big gaping rust hole on... or the new one I got for $45 dollars that is rust free but the wrong colour............

Took her for a good rape up and down the road..

Wheel Alignment is terrible... really need to sort that.. if I get a chance tomorrow Ill drive it around to the Tyre Shop... :-/

Re: Mini Project: Save the Hooker... MK2 GTI 16v

Well as fate would have It, 2 days After finishing the exhaust the other day..

My magnaflow rear box arrived this morning ... a month and a half after ordering it...

So all day at work today it started to irk me more and more that the system went from 2.5 -> 2.25 -> 2.0

So at lunch time today i thought fk it.. went out and bought some more flanges and some more bends in 2.25 inch

and tonight I started making up a new rear 1/3 of the exhaust...

    Some progress shotZ

    Custom hangers welded on

    Initial mock up

Almost there for the back box

May need to make a different double hanger but will see..

Will complete the balance this weekend... will make a section where i can bolt in an additional resonator if i need to make it quiet-er.

    New Year Update.

    - Canned the Magnaflow rear box I like the Smaller Ceramic Chromed rear muffler I got (OEM)

    - I have decided to fit my 90's Spec Kit on this car that I have been saving for my other project

aaaannd Car is booked in for a Full body Respray Mid February...

So basically the Car is driving awesome at the moment (taken it for a few test runs.. the wheel offset is probably a bit much atm and can pull them in slightly!

Have a few options for wheels also.

Currently fitted are 16" Techno Magnesios

16" Compomotive 5 Spoke Wheels freshly refinished in Antique Steel (Powdercoat color

or other Options are some 16" BBS Mesh Wheels with a Polished lip
