There are some pretty cool mods there.
I reckon the boot lock is a good idea, wouldn't mind something like that myself actually.
Looks like its gone from one ingenious owner to another which will be good for the car in the long run. My fave would have to be the extender to the go pedal! Well done on the improvements so far. Thanks for the update.

Some of the PO mods look a bit to ghetto for you Pete, but innovation is in abundance.
Later cabrios and scirocco's come with a factory boot lamp set up btw. If you want the factory lamp ( festoon globe + holder ) i can rustle up a spare.
Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...
If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
Cheers,
Grant...
Yeah, there's some good stuff which I reckon was done early in the cars life and then the care factor dropped off as the car got older.
The headlight relay setup has been done fairly well and if it's working OK I'll leave it. There was a lot of loose wire in the engine bay and to be honest I didn't really check what it was for before I just ripped it all out.
There were 2 windscreen bottles in the engine bay too, one to feed the rear wiper. It's odd that it got a factory wiper kit installed but not the factory washer system. I'm just going to put a factory bottle back in.
Yes some of the mods aren't quite the way I'd do it, and I'm removing the worst of them but I think I'll leave a few, like the gas pedal, just for nostalgias sake.
Thanks, that might be handy depending on how it mounts up. This one is screwed to the underside of the parcel tray support. I'm not sure what it is. I don't instantly recognise it and I haven't had a close look yet. Not sure what it's powered off yet either.
When the car was given to me the PO removed all the globes and relays. Combined with some innovative home brew wiring and a diesel to petrol conversion, It's going to take me a little while to bring all the electrics back on line.

- Replace fixed horn contact in column.
- Replace dash Blower Fan Switch.
- Move cluster into good fascia.
- Check all dash globes, All working now.
- Supply demister switch and blank off to replace missing OG items.
- Reconnect and test front indicators.
- Fit 2 S/H head lights and test.
- Replace all globes in rear lights & test
- Disconnect trailer wiring
- Replace RH tail light.
- Replace and test missing Int wiper relay (Relay 99 from a MK3 does the trick!)

Still got to sort out the engine bay wiring. There's a bit to tidy up and reconnect under there.

If you guys meet the PO you would understand his modifications!
The PO raced cars with my Grandfather...
Yeah, he's quite a character. We'll make sure the car goes back for a visit.

I love the fixes I keep finding in this car
What to do when your indicator reflectors loose their shine?
Install tin foil!
I painted some bumpers today. Theese are are little scuffed but the paint helps.
Still some wiring to do but it's nearly all working now. The aftermath is pretty spectacular.
