Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread, but have skimmed over bits and pieces – great work so far. I'm curious as to why you went with the Qpeng in the first place, though - it's a pretty antiquated system in the current climate of management systems and really limits what you’re able to do!

The advantage of aftermarket management is the freedom it gives you, whereas Qpeng offers almost none of this.
With the factory ECU pinouts (readily available off Autodata or probably somewhere online) you can patch the factory harness to any ECU of your choice anyway. I did this previously with both a Wolf3D and a VEMS ECU with good results... Though, this is obviously what you’re looking at doing now using the Qpeng harness!

I say go for it. You’ll only spend a fortune frigging around with a system for which there’s no local support and very limited potential in terms of accurate tuning.

Australia is the capital of aftermarket management systems, yet no one seems to take advantage of it!!!

    Thanks.
I have told QPEng they must sort it out with the tuner as they are now talking tech jargon that makes no sense to me really. I'm over it.

I went qpeng because at the time of planning the project (4 years ago) it was the only way I knew of at the time to keep the original mk2 clocks etc, and my knowledge of ECU upgrades and tuning was nil. Also, the only references I had of the system at the time were from UK customers who never had these issues for some reason.

The next time it goes on the dyno it will be with qpengs help via skype. If it doesnt get solved, it gets haltech.

I'm guessing Autodata is useless now that qpeng have already modified the harness???

    I'll keep you all posted.

Yep that is funny dude. I'll put aside some time to laugh when this is all over and my credit card has some more meat on its bones...

wade i have the qpeng pin outs, keep me posted on whether the Haltech plugs in directly to the Qpeng plug i would consider this too. The knock sensors would need to be put into the plug I assume.

I think the haltech unit with the same plug is an older type ecu that isnt very flexible with its tuning parameters, and its being phased out too.

Do you have a diagram or something of the qpeng pin outs you can post up here?

    Cheers,
    Wade

    Thumbs up wow

    wade

What an epic thread, read it from start to finish over a week at work, top effort dude. I also have no prior knowledge and reading this inspired me that there is a lot can be done if you have common sense and hard work ethics.

Hope everything works out for you with the ecu and am eager to hear everything’s aok.
