    Cheers mate.

The support on here has really kept me going at times, especially when I think back a couple of years when it all almost ended when I wrote off the other mk2!

I'm trying to post all the ups and downs i go thru so other people of similar inexperience who wanna do something like this can look at this thread and know that others have been thru it.

It's a real slog sometimes when you have no real mechanical background or much experience using tools etc, and i'm often relying on advice, help and the goodwill of others.

Like Winston Churchill said: "when you're going through hell, keep going".

I'll have a bit of a re-group and put in some after work hours this week.

Just hope the engine will run after all this!!!

This is a fantastic thread, you're dedicated to the build anyways! It's a bit of inspiration for my build, keep it coming!!

I'm going to run factory management with an APY motor. Love the downpipe, I got one off Qpeng too. Worth it for the quality!!

Where did you get the Peloquin?

I was looking at a quaife in the USA with fitting kit for 750 US dollars.

    Cheers guys!

The Peloquin came from the Peloquin guy himself in the states. Was about $100AUD cheaper than the quaife IIRC. Similar design and apparently good for +-500bhp!

I managed to press one of the SuperPro polyurethane control arm bushes in tonight!! Major win. I ran outta time before I could get the rest in but at least I know how to do it now. Bloody tricky and frustrating though!

Will put up pics on the weekend...

Wait till the car is running and the bushes are rattling every bit of trim in the car and your teeth. Then you will hate em even more.

    Making some good headway now.
    pics coming soon.

I did forget something though.. I bolted up the flywheel/clutch assembly and forgot about that metal cover plate that goes between the block and the gearbox!

I've torqued up the flywheel stretch bolts and cant bear the thought of doing it again.

Does anyone know if those thin plates are REALLY an essential part? Will it be ok without it?

    Cheers

They stop road much getting in the bell housing. I'd fit it TBH.

I reckon I can help you out with the clutch cable. I got a couple of manual adjusting ones from the UK last year when I converted the Toledo back to a cable change box.

192 721 335C is the part number, it's for a 1300 MK2 Golf with manual gearbox. All the reading I did at the time pointed to it being the best way of getting rid of the auto adjusting cable.
