    With the QPEng downpipe doesn't touch the rear engine mount ?

    Can do you make a picture like this with the downpipe mounted ?

    hey mate, well done with the progress. i just thought i'd share - this photo worries me a little -

    [QUOTE=GOLFBALLS;413236]
    and I ennded up having to remove some material from the rear engine bracket to accomodate the bloody turbo breather. Hopefully it hasn't weakened the bracket too much...

    gotta say that with that engine mount bracket being cast alloy, i would be worried about it in the long term, and nothing like a broken engine mount to ruin your day, one day.

    my suggestion would be to move the oil drain, personally. its a fairly crap oil drain anyway - fairly long and not particularly steep - and in my experience it best to keep oul drains as short, direct and well draining as possible. It would be easy as pie to weld a bung in the back of the sump right below the turbo cartrige adn make up a shorter oil drain pipe.

    just trying to be of help mate, best of luck with it

    Yeah I hear what you're saying. Buuut, at this stage it's been such a long drawn out process that I just want to get it in and running.
    To be honest, the mount doesn't worry me at all. Even if it does fracture it can be replaced quite easily at the shop. Its not as though i'm running 500bhp.

    Obviously I'll be keeping a close eye on the bracket for the first few months and if it cracks it cracks. I ground the whole thing smoothly to try and minimise any crack-prone 'corners' in the gap.

    As for the breather... yea you're right it's a crap design but meh, it works

    If it becomes an issue i'll deal with it then.

    Cheers!

    my understanding is that audi engines run North-South whereas VW engines run East-West therefore mounts wouldnt be the same. or i could just be plain wrong and should go back into my shell

    yer your right the VW's are transverse and the Audi's are longditudinal. Still odd, the mk2 rear mount fits straight up

    No you're wrong...

    S3/TT are transverse.

    Then again you can fit a TT/S3 block into a longitudinal car (ie B5/B6 A4). Odd isn't it?
