Re: the qpeng. All upgrades are free if you use OEM parts. You just tell them what you're doing and they send a CD i think. Ben Leach is the guy there. I asked him to put some product info in with the package coz we're thinking of becoming Aussie qpeng stockists provided it turns out to be good stuff and the training and service is ok.
I'll see what spec info they've sent and put it up here for whoever is interested.
I wanted to use their kit coz i want to keep the stock ignition barrel, clocks, etc without too much stuffing about. Apparently their stuff is easy to install but time will reveal all!
Their version of the ECU already puts out a claimed 270bhp (up from the standard AMK's 210bhp) so further power is just excessive imo and will make the car too unwieldy and overpower the chassis. ~235whp is well enough I reckon! A massive part of good lap speed comes from how well you set up the suspension/chassis so hp upgrades aren't really on my mind.
    Cheers
Mate i just finished wiring mine took one night and some wiring diagrams ( some colours vary) easy though so let me know if your starts first time! i am plumbing in my cooling system as we speak

Re: the ECU, it's made by MBE.
Re: the S3 brakes, the fronts were alcons and sold em. Were too big for the wheels i want anyway. And i got the post '89 16v hubs (thanks aussieg60) with the removable carriers so i'll go the 280 disc.
Here's some pics it came today Well, actually the throttle body was broken but we have a spare here in better nick anyway..

As you can see, the downpipe is pretty well put together and is 2.5"
Just gotta get the LSD, and new vibra technics eng and g'box mounts, and find a way to fit and plumb the 'sprintercooler'

Going great guns - good work

Don't waste your money on the Vibratechnics engine mounts - I bought one for my Ibiza ages ago and promptly sold it to be replaced by a Turn2 kit... which did the same job for a fraction of the money.

That few hundred bucks can go towards better braking

    FYI

Wilwood sell a kit in the UK which are LEGAL in australia and DO have dust seals (making them legal)

i think its 400 UK all up for calipers discs and all hardware - the american kits are not legal is Australia (no dust seals) - retards

Girlings pop up every so often on ebay - bahnbrenner do a kit for 700 USD.

anyhow let us now what brakes you go with - as valver said piss off vibratechnics and just order heavy duty g60 mounts unless you want to die of vibration ( you can put the polys into the mounts if you like - sikalfex is also a good little trick to stiffen them up but not so stiff you have hemorrhoids

Just could mean that if your car was checked to a stupid level your insurance could say bye bye, likely no.. but hey i dont want that risk, guess it depends how modified your car the less stock it is the more they will inspect. Strange though AP are always passed cos there fkin awesome i thought they all had dust seals - meh i get confused some people say yes other no? fuk knows

    hmmm

Hey people. I dont know if anyone here has any experience with this, but there is some evidence in the K04 that there is some rubbing from the impeller/turbine on the casing. It's only minor and the car was obviously running ok like this. Any thoughts??

Can you get it to rub now?

As I see it there's 2 ways to go.

Cheap way, ignore it and it'll go away, probably.

Expensive way, buy another/have that one refurbed.

I have come across jet motors that wouldn't turn at all due to heat expansion causing the blades to touch the sides of the engine.

Maybe a couple of hot shutdowns and restarts caused it.
