    Dammit!
I ordered the return line, gasket and a tube of VAG sealant last week.
There is a mk4 1600 up at the shop so i'll nab the oil filter, cooler and mount from that.
Cheers for the headz up re alternator.

The oil filter housing from the AKL does not have the turbo feed line in it.You will need a metric to 4-AN fitting for it.

    Customsssss

Well, it's been more than a week or so
I almost destroyed my engine after an accident at work the other morning involving my foot slipping off the clutch of a cordoba, the 'doba slipping into a tool trolley, and ploughing into my AMK on its stand!! Almost knocked it over but luckily the stand's wheel got hooked under the car and saved it. Was a bit shaken up and did a bit of damage to the wall but all seems ok... for now. Man I've had some ups and downs already!
The qpeng stuff is being released from customs and posted to the workshop this week after i was relieved of $580!!! Had NO idea customs would fist me so hard, but hey, what can ya do???
I'll post the pics of it all later in the week.
Still deciding on a good quality, but reasonably priced brake setup to go with the later 16v hubs.
Will try for the factory 256mm discs if anyone has any for sale (??) and maybe some EBC greenstuffs who i just realised have their WA dealer just up the road from the shop and supply us with brakes already!! (ok, I'm still new at work)
They should pull the car up fine as it wont be much heavier if at all, and track days will only be once a month.
Am thinking about trying the rear calipers from the S3 on the back, maybe with the old front discs just to recycle the bits i have, but not sure of fitment yet.
Other things still needed are the aforementioned oil filter mount, Peloquin LSD, KW's from robin, poly bushes, Powerflex mounts, and Eibach torsion bars.
I've just sold a bunch of PA gear and mics, as well as some drum gear to help fund it all

I don't think you like the brakes mate. I had a fairly std 16V Corrado and there was a significant improvement when I fitted 280s to it.

My G60 Golf would have been scary without the 280s for sure.

I would be on the look out for some, you do need 15s to go over them.

I reckon carpoid has got some new brakes for his Corrado, he might be worth a PM for his old ones.

Interested to know a little bit more about the qpeng stuff, what are u gonna do if u chase more power and upgrade things like injectors/turbo etc? Do u send the whole ecu back to be remapped? Looking at the cost, how come u didnt get the s3 motor wired in locally to a full standalone.

If this stuff were so easy, id do a conversion myself

I reckon the Qpeng ECU comes chipped. The ECU is DTA I believe so you providing you can get the new software, maybe from qpeng, then it wouldn't be hard to load.

Also, I think that you would be able to find someone locally who could tune it later, if you felt the need.

There would be no need to do big injectors on an S3 motor in a MK2 without a big turbo. You just wouldn't need the power. It will be plenty fast enough just chipped.

peedman, aren't you fitting an ABF? Doing a 1.8T with a bolt on ECU like Qpeng wouldn't be any harder. Maybe a bit more time and money but technically not that hard.

OK i'll def consider the 280's then cheers! Already running 15x7 BBS RS001's
Re: the qpeng. All upgrades are free if you use OEM parts. You just tell them what you're doing and they send a CD i think. Ben Leach is the guy there. I asked him to put some product info in with the package coz we're thinking of becoming Aussie qpeng stockists provided it turns out to be good stuff and the training and service is ok.
I'll see what spec info they've sent and put it up here for whoever is interested.
I wanted to use their kit coz i want to keep the stock ignition barrel, clocks, etc without too much stuffing about. Apparently their stuff is easy to install but time will reveal all!
Their version of the ECU already puts out a claimed 270bhp (up from the standard AMK's 210bhp) so further power is just excessive imo and will make the car too unwieldy and overpower the chassis. ~235whp is well enough I reckon! A massive part of good lap speed comes from how well you set up the suspension/chassis so hp upgrades aren't really on my mind.
    Cheers

could you swap over the brake set up from the s3? have a machine shop make you up some caliper carriers? i'm sure you could get some prefabricated ones from overseas.. they'd have what.. 320mm about..?
