I didn't see you get a reply to your question about the wire you cut. That's the EGT probe and do your self a favour don't find out what they cost new.

Aah, thanks bud! Well, Its gone now!! I've plugged the hole where it was.
Sometimes I really feel worried about this project; 'have I missed something out', 'I dont know what I'm doing', 'is it going to explode the second I start it?'.
I even had the self righteous bastard accross the car park from precision suspension come over and have a go at me for "wasting my time with a POS VW" and that I should "just buy a WRX which will be faster anyway". I politeley told him that I didn't give two 5h!ts what he thought, WRX's are boring and ugly, and he should f**k of back to his workshop and fix his boats. What a smoker of cock.
I think coz it's so close now i'm getting a bit nervous that I'll get to the last few things only to discover a major issue i've overlooked. It's been three years in the making after all and there's still no guarantee it's going to all be sweet!
This forum keeps me going though.
...if only i was as clever as golfworks, preeny, loon, peter jones, etc....

You'll be right dude. Looking back through the thread, you've done a pretty awesome job & should be proud of yourself.
I don't know what your background is eg. mechanic or auto elec or any other technical trade, but if none of the mentioned, you've done an outstanding job regardless
Its a very consuming conversion you've done too.
I hope there is no stone left unturned & doesn't look to be, but as always there will be some sort of gremlins here & there. Even straight forward engine swaps have them.
As long as all the bolts, nuts, hose clamps, cam timing etc are tight & spot on, you'll be fine.
Even my own stuff doesn't always go smoothly all the time.
Yeah cheers for that.
My mechanical background is THIS BUILD!!!!! Although I get the basic mechanics of it all and have always been into cars and racing, my entire professional history is music-based so there's so many times I've stood back looking at an evenings work i'm about to start, and thought "GULP, no idea what the proper way to do this is... but here goes!"
It's usually common sense i s'pose.
Anyway, enough self reflection time. After being told I am stupid for not "buying a WRX" by a wanker, I am more determined than ever.
I just scored a parts interpreter job at HSY so i'll have some money to get things moving again in a coupla weeks. I have next week to get the last things done and ready while i'm still not working, then I go to Adelaide for two weeks training.
If Joe at Golfwagen hasn't finished off the rest by the time I get back there's going to be a storm brewing in Wangara!!!
Cheers,
Wade
