Got stuck into the seat mounting today.
The design is based on information I got from the cage builder, Brown Davis.
It's a simple H pattern made from 25mm x 25mm RHS steel, 2mm thick and 350mpa.
To retain tube strength threded inserts are welded into the tubes to take the seat brackets.
1.6mm thick steel reinforcing plates are required to spread the load over the thin panel steel.
The floor isn't very strong and not a great place to mount stuff off, so 2 bars span the floor half attaching to the tunnel in the centre and the sill on the outer.
2 members run front to back between the spanning members, these should be a long as possible for the most leverage on the seat.
I'm going to use the seat I already have from my other car, but it's base mounting so I had to get side mounting adaptors as well as the side mounts to make it all work.
Had to throw a couple of interior items in to work on positioning everything in the cabin.
Crash hat was also used to check headroom.
