I had to respray the rear guards. They copped a hell of a beating from track debris kicked up by the front wheels.

It took a lot of stop putty and spray putty to fill the chips in the fibreglass.

I've covered the impact areas in two layers of 3M Venture shield tape to limit the damage this season.

re-surfaced the inlet manifolds before assembly.







New gasket had to matched to ports.

More and more parts are getting lock wired as things go back together.



Primary fuel filter is doing a good job of keeping rust from the tank out of the high pressure system.



Pause in proceedings whilst I returned a favour and installed a boost gauge in a coffee machine.

Oil change is a two day saga that involves draining the tank, sump and lines, dismantling the tank and cleaning it, cleaning the pickup filters and generally checking all the componets.













Bleeding the system is a challenge due to the location of the tank.

The car has to be jacked up like this and the oil pump cranked over with a cordless drill.

New polycarbonate windows all round.
I found out last year that some of my windows were perspex which isn't ideal as perspex shatters into shards on impact.

These are from a UK chap who supplies to the FIA VW racing scene.







I used scrap foam to hold the windows in place when I drilled the mounting holes



The paint around the windows wasn't the greatest so I painted a black border around the door windows.



Running with drivers name and Australian flag this season. Not required in my class but makes it easy to tell this Kamei golf apart form all the others in online pics.

I've always wanted to try a set of these pop-vents.

Available from aircraft suppliers.



The guards were previously bolted on with stainless M8 bolts which I'd always meant to replace. They were meant to be temporary for while I was painting the car.

Finally got around to replacing them with aluminium fairing bolts from a motorcycle supplier.

Off to round 1 of the Vic Super sprints tomorrow.

Looking forward to trying out the new 6 speed box.

I'll have to learn how to drive PI all over again.
