Had one dry run today and ran a 1:56.

Getting faster! Another full day tomorrow.

    Here's some pics.

Well done. The mk1 is looking really stable on the track, as opposed to that commodore behind you in the 3rd last pic

    More pics from today.

Had to retire early due to a suspected broken CV.

(Most likely CV, maybe gearbox, won't know exactly 'till I pull it apart.)

CV failed under power, it's the first time I've had the Hoosier R6s fully up to temp.

Normally I can spin the wheels out of a corner but with the Hoosiers hooked up the CV (or gearbox) copped the full output of the motor.

These were new EMPI 90mm axle assemblies. I'll be fitting a modified 02A box with 100m CVs soon.

The noise as pretty impressive, I'll post a video.

    Here's some pics from today

Great pics, you can see from that wagon that the MK1 is certainly planted into that bend.

The Golf is actually rolling a bit more than usual.

I was running with the rear sway bar disconnected to give me more rear grip.

This works much better in the wet, I was trying it out in the dry to see if I need the rear bar at all.

The Commodore was hilarious to watch from behind, it was on the stability control all through the corners, you'll see what I mean from the videos when I post them up.

I always knew that the 020 gear box and the 90mm CVs weren't going to be up to the task.

I just had to start with what I had to work out gear ratios and defer the cost of a proper gearbox setup for a year.

Now that I'm getting the hang of the car and getting the tyres to hook up properly there's more load on the drive train than it can handle.

The good news is that the new gearbox is built, I'll be fitting it over the next month or so.

I'll make the change to 100mm CVs at the same time.
