What did the clutch kit cost you ? What horespower would it take ?
Just about to drop a new clutch and flywheel in my A3 1.8T. The standard clutch has just started slipping and as one day soon I will be sticking a big turbo on, it seems a good time to upgrade.
After extensive reading on the net, it seems that fitting the flywheel from a G60/ABF etc and clutch from a VR6 is the way to go.
I was quite sure I would get a kit from ECSTuning stateside but the shipping was silly. In the end I got a lightened flywheel from Golfloon and an Extreme clutch kit from Extreme here in Adelaide. Was pretty big money but is a step up in spec from the ECS kit, closer to their stage 3.

MK2 GTI G60
800 for the clutch and 160 for the flywheel from Golfloon. 40 to have the clutch people face the flywheel. A grand all up. Fitting not too bad but need to address a really low biting point.
It stalls pretty easy now if you are not careful due to the reduced weight of the clutch and flywheel over the dual mass.
It should be good for over 300 hp. Standard VR6 plate and uprated cover.

I run a lightened G60/ABF/T4 4cyl flywheel and T4 5cyl clutch in the Caddy and have no problems with slip or rough idle.It's the cheapest heavy duty clutch kit you can buy and it's all easy to get factory parts.

I have got used to it now so haven't stalled it since the first couple of times I drove at the weekend. The pedal is a little stiffer but my slave cylinder is leaking and I have yet to change it.
It is clearly different in feel when driving, acceleration is noticeably quicker. Also I have noted that when you come of the throttle sharply, you can feel a shunt in the drivetrain that wasn't there before.
Still it certainly not different enough that I will be pulling it all out to fit the DMF back in.
The gaffer still has to drive it but I don't see that being a problem once the slave cylinder is done.
She'll soon want me back in the Ibiza!!

h100vw, I know what you mean with the lower engagement and stalling - I've just done the same thing and I'm still trying to get used to it.
I've got a Eurospec G60 single-mass 14lb flywheel with my uprated clutch/pressure plate
Torque Rating it can hold : 415 ft/lbs.
Now, to buy new rubbers and engine mounts..........
