    020 to 02A gearbox HOW???

    hey guys just wondering whats involved in doing a 02A gearbox change with a 16v and a mk1??? also would like to know cost and if its really worth it

    You need a custom side mount and front mount.
    Cable change mechanism
    Hydraulic clutch, or cable setup from a SEAT.
    Big Clutch and flywheel.
    I think the 02A box is horrible with a 16v and very heavy.
    Its great when being pushed by a 20VT tho
    With your 16v, Id run an 020 GTI 8v Box and hold on.

    will the 020 be strong enough ... i have been told and read up about the 020 not being strong enough to handle a 16v

    020 was used with the KR 16v for years mate.

    02A boxes are ****ters. 8v box with the final drive will alllow those max speeds you used to talk about
