hey guys,
since we are on topic of bonnet fastening.
what ive got is a carbon fibre bonnet on my mk2, which has 2x separate bonnet pins on each end of the bonnet at the front, but the original locking mechanism has been taken out.
Now, ive done a supersprint at eastern creek, passed scrutineering no dramas.
will i have an issue at wakefield?
It came in a tech bulletin early last year. I cant find the actual bulletin (probably because the CAMS manual has been updated now) but its mentioned on the last page of this: http://docs.cams.com.au/Speed%20Read...EED%20READ.pdf
Individual series could always insist on it I guess if it is published in their regs.

On the bonnet restraints, the supplementary regulations are out:
http://www.clubvw.org.au/assets/pdf/...intsupregs.pdf
"15. Scrutineering Requirements.
a) All vehicles are to be presented at scrutineering and must comply with Schedules A
& B of the CAMS General Requirements for Automobiles (as specific in the CAMS
Manual), including
• A fire extinguisher to CAMS requirements and fitted within reach of the driver.
• A blue triangle, 150mm on each side mounted to indicate the battery location.
• A secondary method of securing the bonnet.
• All forward facing glass lenses to be completely covered by a protective film.
• All loose objects are to be removed from the car.
• The battery is to be firmly clamped.
• Vehicles that have been issued with a CAMS Log Book must present the Log
Book at Registration and Scrutineering.
b) Competition numbers are to be positioned on both sides of the vehicle, and must be of a
contrasting colour to the surrounding bodywork. They must comply with the current CAMS
regulations as to size etc
c) Drivers and vehicles must be presented in a clean and tidy manner, completely ready
for the track including the driver’s apparel and helmet. Any tyre or component changes to
the vehicle after scrutineering must be approved by the Chief Scrutineer before the vehicle
is taken onto the track.
d) Any vehicle found to be leaking oil or fluids whilst competing will be suspended from the
event until the Chief Scrutineer / Clerk of Course is satisfied that action has been taken to
rectify the leak. Should there be a re-occurrence of the leak then the vehicle will be
excluded from the remainder of the event.
e) All vehicles must be fitted with towing hooks or a similar device both front & rear to allow
for the speedy removal of a vehicle from a “sand trap” or removal from the circuit in the
case of a mechanical failure.
f) Fuel must be in accordance with Schedule G of the current CAMS Manual. "
So if someone (Aaron?) can check with the scrutineers (not sure who) to clarify on the bonnet restraints. My car is already fitted with one, but I know what a hassle it was for all the late watercooled cars last couple of years!
I just submitted my entry also
Is it possible to get my car number pre-assigned before the event? (24 or 42 would be good)
I would like to spray it on the doors using plastic dip - should look smart and easy to remove afterwards
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels
Just realised that while I paid up a while back I sort of neglected to actually fill in the form :S
Now it's done and will be posted as soon as I can get to an envelope.
