Twin Cam Mk1 Rally Golf is LEGAL!

I managed to find the loop holes to let you put basicly any golf series motor in a mk1 and rally it under PRC rules.

In 1981 the Golf 16s was sold in france, it was a 1600 twin cam, and was homologated.

So the old rules were you could run any motor from the same series as long as it had the same number of camshafts (hence why we run mk3 1800s). But since a twin cam was homologated in this body shape, you can run any motor from a golf with 1 or 2 cams!!! Also with the new cams rules, you dont have to run it in full spec (ie body kit etc)

Just sucks i had to sell my KR, but a mate in qld is throwing it in his rally car to go BDA hunting

Hope you are reading this Andrew. Would be good to see Gunter live again with a TC motor.

Thats good news about the TC in a mk1. Thanks.
I had a mainland competitor that had contacted VWAG in regards to the TC in Gunter and he was prepared to protest against me in a couple of road rallies. He wanted to take it to court!
I have a perfect rebuilt KR bottom end in the workshop but no head.Or injection at present.
This year has been VERY challenging and so I havent even looked at Gunter so far.
I might PM you Loon as I will be in Sydney for 2 days next friday. Long story!
This would be the pic 86gti. It was interesting to see it in Rallynews as well.
Retrocars, English mag, also had a great pic of him from Rallytas.
Britchie was over home last weekend making mention that he would like to do Tally tas again with me too......

I have been looking into the rules for the improved production racing class lately and would love to run a mk1 in it. Now with these mk1 16v's being made could you run a kr or even an abf in this class? this is what the rules say, just not sure on how to digest them.

4.1 General: Subject to the limitations contained in 4.2 and 4.3(iii) below, the engine and components directly associated with its function are free. The crankshaft centreline as viewed from above must be parallel to that of the original engine.
    4.2 Block:
    (i) The block must have the same number of cylinders/rotors and the same configuration as was standard or available as a manufacturers option for that particular model (eg, in line, horizontally opposed).
(ii) The block must be from the same manufacturer (eg, Ford, GMH, Nissan) as the original car.
(iii) The cylinder block must either be:
(iv) (a) derived from an eligible car as detailed in Regulation 1.1. OR
    (b) derived from the same family of engines as an eligible car using identical internal dimensions (with differences only in transmission mounting pattern, minor external casting differences etc). The block type must be clearly identifiable, ie, Nissan SR20DE, SR20DET, Holden Family II, Toyota 4AG series etc. The derived block must be identifiable as being from a mass produced vehicle, not exclusively developed for sporting evolution models produced for homologation purposes in small numbers for competition use only. CAMS will be the final arbiter in determining the eligibility of a block.

1.1 Improved Production Car: A race vehicle derived from a registered production automobile, with limited modifications to improve performance and reliability in speed events on circuits or closed courses.
To be eligible, the models of vehicles must be or have been mass-produced touring cars, the model of which has been
