    New NSW State Supersprint webpage

    Its been online for a month or so but the NSW state supersprint series now has its own web page

    supersprints.com.au

    photos, and full list of tracks, entry forms and results.

    There are very few VW's taking part in the series. Its very affordable motorsport so why not get out there!

    Thanks for the link, looks like a great series!
    It was good to find some info on there re: the various classes and race results too. I guess type 1 and type 2 would cover most of the cars round these parts?

    Type 1.
    Class Engine capacity
    A 0 - 1600cc
    B 1601 - 2000cc
    C 2001 - 3000cc
    D 3001cc & above

    Type 2.
    Class Engine capacity
    A 0 - 1600cc
    B 1601 - 2000cc
    C 2001 - 3000cc
    D 3001cc & above

    With turbo multiply displacement by 1.7

    Type 1 Vehicle Regulations
    The category is generally intended to cater for unmodified production cars
    meeting the manufacturer's original specifications where freedoms allowed
    relate only to safety, engine reconditioning, tyres and cosmetic
    modifications.

    Type 2 Vehicle Regulations
    The category is generally intended for road registered vehicles with limited
    modifications.

    So basically for VAG cars:
    - 1.6L mk1 etc would go 1A or 2A;
    - <2.0L mk2/mk3/mk4 etc in 1B or 2B;
    - VR6 golf in 1C or 2C;
    - 1.8t, 2.0t, R32 or R36 in 1D or 2D.

    Guess it leads to asking what VAG cars would be competitive in their respective classes?
    I think a mk1 1.6 GTI would be good in class A. Maybe a 2.0 16v Seat Cupra in class B?

    Anyways, getting a bit carried away here.......probably due to doing the V8 race experience at eastern creek yesterday!!

    The type 1 class is very much a run your road car class.
    The runners have done the required safety mods:
    secondary bonnet locking,
    fire ex
    tow hooks made visible with tow arrows
    battery location sticker
    If your car can pass rego, then it can supersprint.
    I've seen some very unsporty cars taking part!

    The biggest costs are your cams L2S License, joining a Cams approved club and a decent helmet.
    You dont need harnesses and rollcages to run in group one, though they are recomended.
    The average entry fee is $160 and for that you will get 4-5 runs of 4-5 laps, which is good value when compared to other track racing.
    You are divided up according to lap times so eveyone gets a good chance to drive without worrying about a faster car lapping them.
    The next supersprint is Oran Park on sunday.
