Some mates and I are also toying with this idea. Swift GTi for around $5k, get it set-up for motorkhana's, dutton, et al, and on the track below $10k. Mainly add some suspension, bracing, CAMS half cage, seats, semi-slick tyres and brakes. The majority seem to be modified already. Than pull the gear off when selling it.

just found a mk2 golf GTI in perth for 2k.

would a mk2 live through motorkhana?
would anyone know if parts etc are easy to find in perth?

joe at golfwagen (i'm pretty sure that's the place)

would be the bloke to speak to about parts and stuff. Depends what parts specifically though. many things could be posted easily enough from the east coast.

would a swift GTI last a motorkhana? imo, the golf would be better built!

Only one car to answer this.

    Moke.

Whack in a 1275 or a screamer revving 998 motor, and go handbrake happy.

Also, possibly the BEST cruiser car for summer. If you don't mind sunburn.
    Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two.
