dont know, according to wikipedia though he had a lot to do with VW's in racing and owned a VW/audi dealership and tuning garage.

The Brawn-Mercedes was late in appearing but, within one lap at Barcelona, Button knew his prospects had been turned around. He pulled into the pits, said nothing, climbed from the car and went to the Brawn motorhome, where he advised a friend to put a bet on him winning the world championship. It is not known if John Button placed a wager on his boy. But he is not a gambling man and does not need a winning bet to reaffirm Sunday's return on an investment he made without a second thought 20 years ago.

It also mentions that John Button used to have to borrow fuel to get home from Karting events with Jenson... Hardly seems like royalty.

It takes access to significant amounts of money to get into F1 to start with, so I'd be very unsurprised if Button's family weren't wealthy without the F1 involvement.

Well if nothing else the Abu Dhabi circuit is pretty damn spectacular. Loving the super yachts sitting by the circuit.

What a BORING race!!
Not a huge fan of the circuit either. It's all concrete. Concrete isnt pretty.

Happy to see the season over. Next year could be interesting. Not so keen on no refuelling but the rest should be good. I'm gunna try and make the Melb GP!!
