Canadian G.P...Ferrari a challenge, is there a change coming??

Vettel ahead of Alonso by a whisker for the Pole this weekend in the Canadian G.P.

Good to see the Ferrari getting back in the game, hopefully good things ahead, cause to my opinion, I can not stand Vettel...awesome driver...no doubt...though he is like the nerdy smart guy in the classroom back at high school you just saw bashed for his lunch every recess.

Also, despite struggling once again with his Kinetic Energy Regeneration System (KERS), Australian Mark Webber qualified fourth in the second Red Bull, which you have to feel for the guy....as, not only is he an Aussie, he just seems like a down to earth bloke and luck never goes his way.... Come on Webber!

It would good to see an open battle to the end of the season between Vettel, Weber, Alonso and Hamilton. Also some under dogs like Massa, Button and Rosberg in the Mercedes.

Lets face it, if Ferrari is not a contender half the audience turns off and if Webber is not doing well...Aussies have a nature to forget you until your winning again....

So seeing one driver win pole and every race in a Red Bull is starting to make it dull, hopefully there is a change (challenge) ahead

So since when has watching excellence in F1 made it dull?

The reason Vettel is snatching the pole positions is because he's currently the best driver making the most of his car. Put him into the cars of the guys who are snapping at his heels, and guess what - he'd still be on pole.

Can't stand Vettel - that's the reaction of a nerd who knows what it is like to have his lunchbox thrown around. Vettel is fast, articulate, first class PR man, and does it all in a foreign language. And he doesn't call the race card when he doesn't get his own way, unlike some. Compare the attitude of Button and Mr "I'm the most deserving" - one is an adult gentleman, the other is a spoilt crybaby.

Was Vettel lucky in Monaco? - maybe, was he lucky in the last race last year - maybe, was he lucky last year when his engine blew up an cost him a victory, maybe not. Was Hamilton lucky during the year he won the title - he was the luckiest man alive.

As for Mark - well, he's had his chances in the best car on the grid for several seasons, and has really just shown he's a 90% F1 driver, alongside the likes of Massa, Barichello, and many others who can get the occasional Pole, win the occasional race, but will always be beaten by the 100% driver.

What's dull and boring this year is the absolute domination of the tyres and the pit stops, creating scenes like Alonso being lapped after leading 3/4 of a race. Now that's just not displaying F1 as the pinnacle of motorsport.

You seem to have a lot of respect for a driver whom has yet to prove himself in a car that is of equal power to the rest of the field.
He has the car at the moment, though one thing is for sure, Alonso is no cup of tea, and, if Ferrari get that car up to speed, even you will chant 'I want my lunch back'

I havent yet seen the Button/Alonso tangle, but i'm glad the stewards grew some testicles and common sense to call some pure "racing incidents" as they rightly were.

Hamster was a bit silly going outside Button, but Button didn't see him and just moved over to the braking area. Hamster should've just weaved right instead... racing incident pure and simple.

That was a brilliant last half of the race. Great to see racing and F1 cars that actually race AND pass each other.

I do fear that if the current rules stay in place, it could end up more like a long distance cycle race. Everyone stays in the pack, no one wants to lead as those in front get penalised so significantly with the new wing rules. Brilliant addition, but seems to offer too much to the car behind. Schumacher got smashed cos of this, but was still his best race in a long time.

Thank christ for the replay, my live recording ended after 2hrs of lap 20 something lol!

Hamilton seems to off with the fairies lately, can't hack the pressure or what? Maybe that stupid pop slapper he has in his corner is distracting him too much hehe?

Vettel is the best man there? I think that last lap incident showed that he might not be the super driver people think he is?

Interesting race, like the track too just a shame about the rain delay.

Post race interview - Mark Webber " It was quite close with all three of us."

Hmm, yep, quite close all right. Webber still can't face reality.

Vettel won by 10 odd seconds, after slowing down considerably in the last lap. It wasn't quite close at all - Vettel was streets ahead the whole race. He opened up 2 or 3 seconds on the first lap and then cruised just fast enough to stay ahead, knowing that there's no point in burning tyres to get a 20 second lead after 10 laps, only to have a possible safety car take the lead away and leave the tyres stuffed.

Points of interest were mainly the inability of the Ferraris to blow away the others at the start by the huge margin they have had in this area up till now. Hamilton didn't crash anybody out, and didn't cry the race card. All starters finished. The tyres didn't control the race for once.

Watching the race on a PVR is great - you can see everything in less than an hour skip the ads, skip the "processional" bits.
