Agreed. I think the long straight made it difficult to judge their speed properly, but they looked positively pedestrian on the first lap!

I loved the Webber smoke screen Had me worried that his engine had blown, but the conspiracy theorist in me says he employed the Cuttlefish Defensive Manoeuvre into the first corner, deliberately obscuring the others vision to give himself a leg-up

Pity Alonso finished ahead of Massa as I am not a fan of Alonso at all. Glad that Lewis beat Jenson though as I still do not believe Jenson is World Champ material. Schumi didn't do too bad, but I reckon he'll be a little filthy with himself for not being able to beat his young teammate, let alone be a contender for the podium.

It was good to hear the scream of the F1 engines again though

I think Jenson will get it handed to him by Hamilton. Jenson is a very smooth driver, where as Hamilton isn't that could play into his hands a little with tyre management.

I don't mind Alonso as a driver, I think he is the best out there. I'm not a Ferrari fan though

I think we will see a much better showing from Webber in Melbourne, he never seems to do well in Bahrain. If he didn't get held up and made a good qualy time he and Vettel would have romped away with it judging from the times they were running.

Ended up getting tix for turn 1 (4 day pass) for Melbourne. WOOHOO!
up there for best seats on the course for action!! Nice one Matty!

Make sure you pack extra batteries and memory cards, you're gonna need it! On the first day, work out the best method for shooting through the wire fence.

And the general verdict is that the ban of refuelling, while creating a slow-burn effect initially, made the racing much more exciting.

Missed the race due to shocking migraine, which i'm still dealing with atm, so all in all an ok race? Personally i reckon taking the refuelling out takes away from the tactics and therefore the race of F1.

    Cheers,
    Jayse.

There seemed to be a little more passing going on mid pack with some good battles, but up front there wasn't any. The only movements were in pit stops and Vettel being passed due to his engine issue. I think it is the nature of the circuit though, hopefully the others are a bit more exciting.

Only watched the first few laps last night and the cars looked SLOW. Seemed like a bit of a procession as well. I hope the track made it boring rather than the new format.

yeah i found it boring, but it's only the first race. I dont like the new rule of no re-fueling. No drama like fire on pit lane.

Boring race for me. Was good to see and hear the F1 machines again but a pretty dull race. Cars were very slow to start with.

I really hope Melbourne is a heap better, not just coz I spend $500 on tickets!!
