I went to Adelaide in 1989, sitting in the front row on pole position (in a grandstand, not in a car unfortunately!)
The first time a car went past, it was like someone had stuck a hot knitting needle straight thru my eardrums - I was delirious with pleasure and pain at the same time!!
The race was a complete washout - Prost refused to race and retired at the end of the first lap, Senna and Mansell both spun and crashed.
The race ended half way through and was the shortest race in GP modern history (despite the fortune I spent getting there!!)
