OK who's going?
On behalf of Club VW Sydney I would like to extend to you and your fellow club members an invitation to attend our 7th Annual Supersprint in conjunction with the VW Nationals car show. This year sees a change of venue as we have moved to Sydney Motorport Park at Eastern Creek where we will be utilising the Amaroo (south) circuit. The event will be held on Saturday 23rd May 2015.
The event will be held under a CAMS event permit and follow the CAMS NSW guidelines for supersprints. For pre-entries received on or before May 16th 2015 the entry fee will be $170 for males and $85 for females. Entries received after this date will incur $30 late fee and be accepted subject to organisers discretion. Please accept our invitation to attend this event and could you kindly pass on the Supplementary Regs and Entry Forms to anyone who may wish to attend.
See website for further info and online payments. Note that even if you pay online you will still need to send me your entry form by email or to my mailbox. (not the clubvw mailbox). 2015 Supersprint - Club VeeDub
In closing could I also request that if any of your members who may wish to help out on the day and are CAMS qualified in the roles of flag marshals or scrutineer we would greatly appreciate any help that may be offered.

Opinions...
Previous years we have run it as 4 flying laps per session. Would you a) prefer to continue like that or b) go for a 10 minute fixed time session? You'd get a longer run but less runs.
In either case figure in the scenario that if a car breaks on lap 1 requiring your session to be red flagged you dont get to restart your session. Under that scenario it might have more of an impact under option a.

Personally I prefer sticking to the 4 flying laps. Tyres are over and done with by lap 3, and brakes are borderline by the end of 4. Also it might take a really long time to get out on the track again with long sessions and heaps of cars. If there was going to be a mixture I'd prefer the 10 minute session as the first one to help with track familiarisation and then the 4 flying laps after, but once again that means its ages before you get your first run.
I would much prefer 10 minute sessions.
4 laps won't even get my tyres up to temp!
Plus it gives you a better chance of a clean lap in any given session and while there might be slightly less sessions, you will get more laps in overall.
I would have to agree that 4 flying laps is good for production tyres & brakes (likely to be the majority?)

I think 4 laps would be best to start with. From experience it is hard to pass on the south circuit unless someone lets you by. Especially if the person in front is not willing to let you by when the cars are similar in straight line speed. So its far better to ask to be moved up on the dummy grid and have more runs. By the end of the day you can change to 10 min runs when half the field goes home.
Will you be there this year Martin?
