You should find a wiring diagram on the top of the old unit, or failing that they will use standard coloured wires... (hopefully, but it's not always the case).

    If all else fails...

If possible I would rig up an extra plug in the line. ie:

    Stock wires -|PLUG|- 10cm wires -|NEW STEREO PLUG|-

The idea is now you can always keep the same plug on the stock wires and pull out the little extension bit when (if) you change head units and solder the new one together outside the car. Much easier.

Sure I haven't done this to my car... but I will next time round.

If you're close to the Eastern Suburbs, i can help with the install if you like. You may find that the wiring loom with your CD player fits the ISO leads in the SEAT already.

It's very unlikely that the stock two plug configuration on the Seat fits anything after market. What I did notice when I was last in Supercheap was a retail version of what I was talking about. Stock Commodore plug on one end and loose wires on the other so you could solder up your new head unit outside the car and retain all the stock plugs making it very easy to swap out the after market head unit when you sell. The range was pretty limited to the common Ford, Holden, Subaru etc range, but you never know. I really should look into that a little more and see whats available.

As for you helping out... I think your either too far away or from each other since one persons profile says Brisbane and the other says Bondi... or someone needs to update their profile. (That or there is a Bondi up there somewhere...)

When i purchased my Alpine CD/MP3 player the other month, the ISO wiring loom that came with the Alpine unit fitted the ISO loom in the car directly. What i meant was, you need to use the loom to connect the unit, not just a direct connection from car to unit.

Try Supercheap, or Autoleads and they might have a wiring loom that's a match for your car to the headunit you have. There's a whole range of aftermarket wiring looms for an easy fit.
