Transmission issue Cordoba 95' GLX Auto

Hi Everyone,

Just few days ago while driving, my car couldn’t make up its mind whether to stay in 3rd gear or top gear…and now whenever I start it and put it to drive ‘D’, it will pick up on 3rd gear and will stay on it all the time, and won’t select appropriate gear automatically. I’ve to put it to 1st gear manually when there is high gradient or when power is required. Any ideas any one; why this is happening and how it could be fixed?

Update: I showed it to my mechanic & he reckons it could be a transmission wiring. he couldn't give me exact reason...but said something about loom. Just wondering...if anyone knows what he meant...and that what is the cost to fix it.

It could well be the printed circuit foil mate, i think thats where your man was heading. That was a common thing on them. Best to do a scan on the Tranny to see what codes you have. The printed circuit was bad for cracking. I changed a few back home but none here yet. Not sure on a price mate. Loon may have a better idea on that.

I hate those transmissions mate. You can buy the circuit foil from VW for $150? They you have to put new oil and filter and bleed up the box. Then it may still not work

I have a couple of working Cordy autos if you get stuck. $500 mates rates

Me too they were dungers , first of the Fuzzy Logic Faulty logic more like.
Anyway thats good to know prices and stuff. That fact that it has just started playing up might be in your favour mate
