this intermittent problem is still haunting me!!!!!! ive taken it to penfolds in georgetown and it didnt stall or play up for the whole day it was there. perry said if it doesnt do it, the computer wont detect it.. he was nice enough to tell me if it happens and im nearby to just stop in and he'll take a look. so i did, he thought it would be the temp sensor. got a new one installed yesterday and it was running sweet. got into the car after work today and its doing it again?!?! ARRRRGH!

intermittently, when starting the car (90% of the time its only when warm-hot{so the other 10% is from cold start}) it struggles to hold idle... rarely, it'll work itself out after about 20mins of driving. when accelerating, it also intermittently doesnt respond.. (when its playing up). the hall sensor and temp sensor have now been replaced..

the temp sensor was replaced yesterday and worked sweet until this afternoon. it started from a cold start after work. it dropped out at the lights about 10mins into my drive home. 10mins later it stopped playing up again.

not sure if its normal..but when pulling up at the lights. the idle sits about 1500 then slowly drops to under 800 after a few seconds.. this happens all the time regardless of whether or not this issue is happening..

might be worth actually videoing the taco and uploading onto youtube or something..?

    ISV Valve mate.
You need subaru engine cleaner and a mechanic who knows which way is up.

    Hi,

check the plug going into the back of the ignition switch and the switch itself for stretch and "looseness", i fixed the same problem temporarily by zip tying it all together, but eventually replaced the switch and plug to get the contacts reliable enough.

My old mirage did the same thing
would either idle well when cold, but would stall at idle when warm
or it wouldn't idle til it had warmed up.
sometimes it would hunt around at idle, struggling to keep RPM

I tried heaps of things like plug leads, plugs, fuel filter,
but it turned out to be something called an ICV valve?
    (Idle control valve?)

It's an electrical valve hanging off the throttle body that varies the air on cold starts.
This was sticking in various positions, causing intermittent issues
TRied to clean it out with carbie cleaner, but had to replace it in the end

just a couple of screws. need to disconnect the battery so it recalibrates.
Apparently it's supposed to be plugged into a diagnostic machine to be recalibrated, but mine was fine just after disconnecting the battery
