update your location, it will make it easier for people to help you.

I don't know how you'll go with the key but Matt at Camden GTI can probably help with the parts, he's golf loon here on the forum.

I had to get a new key for my Cordoba last year. I got it through the VW dealership. Cost about $230, was quoted $600 for remote entry. The key for a 95 Polo is compatible with a Polo (you'll probably need to tell the VW centre this yourself though, most of them have no idea what a Seat is!). They need to program the key for you. The AH code is exactly what I have.

    Hi there,

Had a similar problem when i lost my only key to the Ibiza. I took the door lock off the car to a locksmith's and they cut a key from the barrel. Only cost me $40.

I went to a Locksmith's in Cronulla if that's near you.

No point in going to VW direct.

Ken, my daughter's 95 Cordoba has "old fashioned" unlock the door with the key. I'd guess that is what Jondarren is talking about. Any locksmith who specialises in automotive locks should be able to copy a key like that.

Later cars have remote unlocking by pressing the button on the key. These are more complicated and expensive and will have to be coded to the car by someone with some special equipment. A VW dealer should be able to do it provided you can make them realize that a Seat is a VW in disguise!

    Spare parts for Seats

    Ken,
Spare parts are available through VW dealers. The only problem is that the VW dealers do not have Seat parts books so they don't know what part number you want.

Fortunately, most parts on the car have a part number stamped, printed, moulded or cast on them. If you can find that part number just ask the local VW dealer to get it in. VW part numbers are usually three groups of three numbers, sometimes I think there are letters in the first group and sometimes a letter suffix after the last group.

Otherwise you can ask to see layouts of similar parts groups for MK11 Golfs and you might see what you are looking for.

As with most cars, some fast moving parts are available through Repco and similar auto parts outlets.

    Hi Ken & all.

here is a link to the online spares catalogue page for the 95 Cordy door with key part numbers, if the link doesn't work go the second link & register & it should work for you.

I figure that if you need to go to vw for parts at least you can go with the correct part numbers or print the page out for the dummies behind the counter as a picture might be easier then numbers for them!

Maybe the link should be in a sticky here in the Lounge Seat, Loon what do you think? It might make it easier for Seat owners to get parts out of dealers, then again it might take business away from you, my bad!
