Any 02a short shifter from a Vr6/passat will work in a Cupra.

At least 20 options. All 020 short shifters suit your 8v.

I have decided on the Gruvenparts short shifter with the b&m shifter

B&M Manual Short Shifter, Precision Shifter, Audi, VW » B&M

    Pretty sure they will work

Plenty of b&m on ebay also plenty of knock offs as well and to be honest they exactly the same. The only difference I noticed was a little blue paint and 150 bux lol

Well I purchased the Gruvenparts short shifter and its on the way now. Also didnt go the b&m...I went the autobahn88 at $34. Im going to install the Gruvenparts short shifter first and then still in 2 minds about changing the actual shifter because read a few bad things. See how we go

Another option if you really want to improve the shift quality is swap the shift tower on your 02A gearbox with a later model 02J one. They work differently but will fit straight in (be sure to get the retaining cap from underneath though, its shift tower specific). You will then have to use the mk4 02J shifter and cables, but believe me the combination is just so superior to the 02A setup. Just another option, and there are probably a lot more upgrade parts available for a mk4/02J setup if you want to go further.
